What Is the NT Scan?
The NT (nuchal translucency) scan is done between 11 and 14 weeks. It measures the fluid at the back of your baby's neck and, combined with a blood test and your age, estimates the chance of Down syndrome and some other chromosomal conditions. It is a screening test, not a diagnosis.

A normal ultrasound measures the nuchal translucency; a blood test (combined/first-trimester screening) is often done with it to give a risk estimate.

A higher-risk result does not mean your baby has a condition — it means further tests like NIPT or diagnostic testing may be offered.
